On december 15th, 2021, the 10.ºH2 students went on a field trip to the Museu Nacional de Arte Antiga, in the Santos neighbourhood, in Lisbon, as part of the of the Enriquecimento Curricular subject. Accompanying the students were the teachers of the following subjects: Portuguese, Rosa Henriques, Philosophy, Patrícia Graça, English, Luísa Costa and Geography, Carlos Marques. The trip was made by bus and on foot taking approximately thirty minutes. While waiting for the opening of the museum, we appreciated the museum’s outdoor natural landscape and took some pictures. The class was then divided into two groups to visit the museum. The teachers Rosa Henriques and Patrícia Graça accompanied the first group and the second group went with the teachers Luísa Costa and Carlos Marques. Both groups had their own tour guide. The visit focused mainly on painting and sculpture and their interpretation under the theme “Women in Society”.
At the end of the visit, teachers and students returned to the school premises on the same means of transport. In general, it was a pleasant visit where we learned about ancient art and some curiosities around it as well as some aspects of the role of women in society. One of the many things we learned was how to interpret pictures and to distinguish the various periods of painting.
